Issue: Free range parenting
Press: People like to read about people. And if you can label them, offer a story or issue that is out of the ordinary, new, eyebrow raising, extreme, a significant first or comes with a string image then the media will be interested.
Outcome: Demonstrating this issue was Michelle Horne, managing director of Peekaboo Communications. A press enquiry came in asking people to comment on free range parenting for The Telegraph. From there The Daily Mail picked it up and the day it went to press, This Morning called and Michelle was on the sofa with Holly and Phil the following day. It generated a social media buzz (not all positive). Michelle was invited to speak with a local parenting group following the media appearance and made valuable contacts at the show combined with gaining a real insight into the process.
